Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc: A Guide with Useful Tips

As one of the most famous tourist attractions in Phu Quoc, Vinpearl Safari is the largest semi-wild animal park in Southeast Asia, home to over 150 species and more than 3,000 individual animals. I visited thinking it would be like any other zoo, but was astonished by its sheer size, convenient facilities for visitors, and the animal-friendly environment. If you're traveling with children, this is an absolute must-visit destination.

How to Get to Vinpearl Safari
Guests staying at Vinpearl resorts can take a complimentary shuttle bus. If you're coming from Phu Quoc Airport, Duong Dong, or another resort, check the schedules on the Vinbus app. If the app is inconvenient or the timings don't work, you can easily get there by Grab or taxi.
Vinpearl Safari Ticket Prices
If you're staying at a Vinpearl Resort, tickets are sold at a discounted rate at the front desk. In particular, if you purchase your tickets at the resort or hotel lobby, you can enter directly using facial recognition without waiting in line. The ticket purchase line and the entrance line are separate, and the ticket line can get long between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM due to a high volume of tourists. Therefore, it is highly recommended to buy your tickets in advance.
You can also purchase tickets from online travel agencies like Klook, but the price difference isn't significant. If your schedule is not yet confirmed, it might be better to buy them on-site.
Children under 100cm tall can enter for free.

Vinpearl Safari Map
Vinpearl Safari is divided into two sections: the ZOO area, which can be explored on foot or by tram, and the Safari area, which is viewed from a tour bus. The ZOO area is quite large, so if you plan to walk, you should budget 3 to 4 hours. The tram ticket is reasonably priced, so using the tram is highly recommended for a comfortable experience.

How to Use the Tram (Buggy) in the ZOO Area
In the ZOO area of Vinpearl Safari, you can use the convenient tram service. You can get on and off the tram at dedicated stops to view the animals in each section. Since the trams circulate frequently, you can simply take another tram from the stop where your viewing ends to move to the next area.
The tram drivers sometimes provide simple commentary on the animals. They mix Korean, Chinese, and English, making the experience more enjoyable. Phu Quoc's weather can be very hot, which can ruin your trip if you don't feel well. Even if you want to walk some sections, it's recommended to purchase a tram ticket due to the low cost and the heat.
Tram tickets can be purchased at a separate ticket booth after you enter the zoo.

There is also a VIP Tram service available for groups of 7 people or less. You can use this private tram for a guided program, including feeding experiences and commentary, and view the animals at your leisure. This service is first-come, first-served and can sell out early.

How to Use the Safari Zone
The safari tour starts at a designated area. This is a 20-minute bus tour where you can see predators and herbivores like tigers, lions, bears, giraffes, and hippos. The comfortable, air-conditioned bus and the guide's lively explanations make the tour even more exciting. However, since it is not a designated seating system and there can be more visitors than seats, it's best to board when there's an available seat. The safari tour buses circulate throughout the day, but the last bus departs at 3:20 PM. If you plan to visit in the afternoon, it's a good idea to do the safari tour first.

The bus will pause or slow down at key points along the viewing route. Vinpearl Safari Phu Quoc feels like a mini-Africa. You can see various animals napping, grazing, and running around on the vast savanna. This area is an absolute must-see.

Dining Options within the Safari
Giraffe Restaurant

Giraffe Restaurant (Source: https://vinwonders.com) |
The Giraffe Restaurant operates from 10:00 AM to 3:45 PM. There is giraffe food on the restaurant roof, so the giraffes gather around to eat. Visitors can also get the chance to meet and feed the giraffes directly, making it a great place to enjoy both a meal and an animal encounter. It's a particularly great spot to visit with children. The menu is diverse, offering fried rice, chicken, hamburgers, and more.
Flamingo Restaurant
The Flamingo Restaurant is located near the entrance to the ZOO area and overlooks the flamingo enclosure. The restaurant seems to have gotten its name from the fact that you can watch the flamingos while you eat. The menu mainly consists of traditional Vietnamese dishes, so it's a recommended stop if you want to taste local food. The Vietnamese braised pork ribs, in particular, are a highlight.
Vinpearl Safari in Phu Quoc is a massive park with a wide range of experiences. Children will love it, and adults can feel like kids again, too. If you're planning a trip to Phu Quoc, I highly recommend visiting. It's best to go in the morning. Since the weather is hot, be sure to prepare for the heat with sunscreen, a hat, a parasol, and a fan. There are many cafes and stores inside where you can escape the heat, but it's a good idea to freeze a bottle of water and bring it with you.
